Anything but ordinary – patterned tiles makes a comeback

For those in the know, 2013 has been an exciting year for interiors with previously fashionable plain tiles stepping aside in order to make way for highly patterned designs.

This is a trend you can really have fun with, and there is a range of options to suit all tastes.

If you aren’t afraid to experiment with a combination of bold colours and striking patterns, this is the trend you’ve been waiting for. Choose a tile with a pattern that you love and install wall to wall for a statement look that cannot be ignored. Pick out one of the colours in your tile and finish the look with complementary accessories in the same shade, but keep the rest of the design simple to ensure different aspects aren’t competing for attention.

To make a feature area, use brightly coloured tiles to create a rug effect. You could also use border tiles to frame the section if you’d like to create a focal point and draw even more attention to your chosen design.

Even in neutral shades, this is a gorgeous look. White tiles with a subtle flower pattern are sophisticated and elegant and can be complemented by any accent shade.
