Keeping it simple with field tiles

Sometimes less is more. Don’t get us wrong we love statement mosaics and large format sparkling glass tiles but this week on the inspiration pages we’re going back to our roots looking at fabulous field tiles (most of which are made here in Devon!) and why we love them.

When it comes to kitchens and bathrooms making a decision on tiles can be tricky, matching your colour scheme and cabinetry often calls for a simple wall tile. Whites, creams and greys may not sound exciting but their neutral qualities and beautifully glossy finishes create a timeless finish. Our field tiles range from 100mm x100mm to 152mm x 152mm - perhaps the most appealing thing about square wall tiles is the simplistic pattern repeat of block coloured squares. For extra detailing try a coloured grout, grey grout compliments white field tiles perfectly!

If you do want to make more of a statement but love the idea of a simple field tile then try one of our more daring colours like Ruby from our Winchester Classic range, a deep lustrous red or Classic Lime Green for a rich hue.

Original Style was initially set up in 1986 to make tiles for cast iron fireplaces. However it soon became apparent that tiles were being used in other areas, particularly in the USA where they began appearing on the walls of luxury bathrooms of Hollywood stars! This led us to develop a range of Victorian style tiles for walls - our Artworks collection.  Field tiles from the Artworks collection are a classic and timeless choice for bathrooms and kitchens, choose from a neutral Ivory or White or a daring glossy Jet Black.
